2020 Competition Format

The groups at all levels have now been formalised and the first stage of fixtures have been produced.

The plan for the 6 team group is for everyone to play 5 games.  The 5 team group will play 4 games so will have to miss a week each.  The 4 team group will play each other twice although one set of fixtures will be dropped making 5 matches.

This will take 5 weeks to complete the programme so, starting on 18th July, the set of games will complete on 15th August when we move onto the second stage.

In all stages, where two teams are tied in a group on the same number of points, placings will be decided by RRPW (Relative Runs per Wicket).
This is calculated via the Play Cricket Site automatically, but the calculation is as follows:

RRPW = (Team Runs Scored/Team Wickets Lost) - (Opponent Runs Scored/Opponent Wickets Taken)

Example

Over the Group Stage, Team X plays 3 games with the following scores

Team X 200/5 v 180/7 Team C

Team X 100/10 v 101/2 Team B

Team X 50/5 v 49/10 Team A

The Calculation would be as follows

{(200+100+50)(5+10+5)}-{(180+101+49)(7+2+10)}= (17.5)-(17.37) = +0.132

Level 1

In the second stage, if we take the group positions as A1 to A5, B1 to B6, C1 to C6 and D1 to D4, we get 3 second stage groups with 2 split into 2 divisions and 1 as a single division as follows:

A1, B2, C1, D2 and A2, B1, C2, D1

A3, B4, C3, D4 and A4, B3, C4, D3

A5, B5, B6, C5, C6

The top 2 sets will play 3 more matches in the group taking the games up to Sep 5.  They can be followed by a semi final between the top 2 in each group and then a final on Sep 19th.  Optionally, the 3rd / 4th in the groups could do the same.

In the bottom set, there would be 4 more games spread over the 5 weeks to Sep 19th.

Level 2

In the second stage, if we take the group positions as A1 to A6, B1 to B6, C1 to C6 and D1 to D6, we get 3 second stage groups with 2 split into 2 divisions and 1 as a single division as follows:

A1, B2, C1, D2 and A2, B1, C2, D1

A3, B4, C3, D4 and A4, B3, C4, D3

A5, B6, C5, D6 and A6, B5, C6, D5

At this stage teams  will play 3 more matches in the group taking the games up to Sep 5.  They can be followed by a semi final between the top 2 in each group and then a final on Sep 19th.  Optionally, the 3rd / 4th in the groups could do the same.

Level 3

Level 4

In the second stage, if we take the group positions as A1 to A5, B1 to B6, C1 to C6 and D1 to D4, we get 3 second stage groups with 2 split into 2 divisions and 1 as a single division as follows:

A1, B2, C1, D2 and A2, B1, C2, D1

A3, B3, C3, D3

A4, A5, B4, C4, C5, D4

The top 2 sets will play 3 more matches in the group taking the games up to Sep 5.  They can be followed by a semi final between the top 2 in each group and then a final on Sep 19th.  Optionally, the 3rd / 4th in the groups could do the same.

In the bottom set, there would be 4 more games spread over the 5 weeks to Sep 19th.

We believe that this gives all teams enough competitive games as well as giving clubs who are struggling the chance to play closer to their own standard as the season moves forward.
