It is with great sadness that my we must announce David Bennett passed away early in June aged 86.
Dave’s passion was cricket and he enjoyed nothing more than reminiscing about old times. Not many people can say they started playing club cricket at 15 and retired at 65, 50 years or a half century of playing the game he loved.
He was part of the 1974
Dave played for Thornton Club Blackpool Cricket Club Fleetwood Cricket & Sports Club Wrea Green Cricket Club and 3yrs at Staining but I think he would admit himself that his favourite ground was the Illawalla at Thornton Cleveleys Cricket Club.
Unfortunately Dave never made a hundred and I really thought he would make it in life.
