As a lot of you are aware, I was taken ill whilst umpiring on Saturday however to borrow a quote from Mark Twain " The rumours of my death were an exaggeration"
It would appear to have been simply a faint. Although this is not the first occasion. Consequently, I have decided to retire from umpiring.
I first umpired in the Palace Shield on the 24th of April 1999 and have done hundreds of games since then. I have been lucky enough to have won the Nompere trophy on a number of times. Been recognised by the County and our ACO. The highlight has to have been umpiring at Lords.
More importantly, I have met and made thousands of friends in our game.
I hope to remain in the game in some capacity so you will not get rid of me easily because cricket is still the worlds best game.
