Norcross CC are pleased to announce that veteran slow bowler Stephen Perkins has been selected by Lancs Over 60s for their upcoming game against Cheshire on the 26th August at Middleton CC.

Due to COVID19, the Over 60s County Championship was cancelled with a view to returning to a full fixture programme in 2021.

Technically not yet over 60, Perkie (pictured back row second from the left) is only 59 - although he doesn’t look a day over 58 - but has been selected for this fixture with a view to being a regular member of the squad next year. In the close season, the ex-Lytham old timer has overcome issues with his vision and his hip to make a startling return to action in an albeit truncated season.

Prior to the successful surgical procedures, his vision was so limited that naturally the panel beckoned and after successfully completing the umpire’s course, has officiated in a number of games this season. But a return to playing has opened up the door of the Lancs over 60s squad and the club and his many fans wish him well and congratulations on getting county recognition.
