It is will deepest sadness that I'm here to inform everyone of the passing of Ivan Cartmell.
Ivan has been a club member since his dad John brought him down to SSCC as a young boy nearly 50 years ago. Ivan was an amazing person who would greet you always with a handshake and a few words. He loved his cricket supporting all teams and being the Third and Friendly team scorer when he was younger. It didn't matter to Ivan which team you played for, or how good you were, if you played for SSCC he supported you fully. Although he could remind you if your standards dropped usually in front of the rest of the team. You see, Ivan loved the banter and laughs as much as the rest, so if you had a bad day watch out.
Ivan also helped out as a glass collector and cleaner in the club and made sure the drinks were ready at the break for the cricket teams. He was also a stalwart of the snooker team of which he played in for over 30 years. His wins were usually confirmed with a "get in" as he potted the winning ball.
Not only was he loved at SSCC he was a well-respected member of the Palace Shield family where he had made many good friends at all the clubs.
He will be sadly missed throughout the PS Cricket, Small Table snooker leagues and SSCC will not be the same without him. Although I'm sure everybody will have fond memories of Ivan.
I have to mention his love for football, being a massive Man City fan
So I will finish in Ivan's words City City
